Bareminerals Master Finish Set

I love QVC I don't care that telly shopping has a bad reputation, QVC has some of the best beauty brands for amazing prices and brings brands like Tarte and It Cosmetics to the UK first.

Saturday Bareminerals featured as their TSV, this is one star product that is for 24hrs, or in this case as stocks last, that is heavily discounted. In this case it was reduced from £74 to £39.96 plus P&P. This is by no means old stock they reduce to get rid of, the debut of Bareminerals newest foundation was featured in this collection.

Master Finish Collection

The 6 piece collection featured the brand new Barepro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation which is said to;
  • Provide 24hrs naturally matte full coverage
  • Contains papaya enzymes to improve skins texture during wear
  • Over time skin texture improves as well as blurring pores and imperfections
  • Is available in 30 shades (depending on where you purchase)
Also included in the set is;
  • Bareskin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer
  • Mini Prime Time Original Foundation Primer
  • Original Mineral Veil
  • Moxie Plumping Lipgloss in Debutante
  • Luxe Performance Brush -*new*
Master Finish Contents

I have a very very large Bareminerals collection so the only products that are new to me are the Barepro foundation and Luxe performance brush. I shall cover those later in more detail.

The Prime Time Primer is a traditional silicone primer. It's clear and I find easily absorbed into my skin, you only need a pea sized amount for the entire face. I use this almost daily and is my go to primer.

Mini Prime Time

Complete Coverage Serum Concealer (in Fair) is another favourite, I use either this or Tarte's shape tape on a daily basis and I find it provides great coverage without feeling cakey or heavy. I do set it as I have oily skin but if you have drier skin you may find you don't need to. This is the only concealer my best friend will ever use and as she has a 3 year old and a newborn less than a month old I think that's a pretty good recommendation.

Original Mineral Veil is a translucent setting powder very similar in texture I think to Laura Mercier. It can be used prior to foundation application after primer to help control oil, a trick Wayne Goss often uses, or as a setting powder. It's incredibly finely milled and a little goes a very long way.

Mineral Veil

Moxie is a sheer range of lip colours with a natural glossy finish. They do have the "tingle" you can get with plumping glosses but as I own about 20 it's obviously a comfortable tingle. They give a natural glossy look and are great to apply on the go as you don't need a mirror. If you like more pigment check out their buttercream range as they're more opaque and have a lovely lightweight texture. Debutante is a lovely everyday colour.

The Luxe performance brush is a synthetic densely packed brush with an interesting design. The intention is that it mimics the application you'd receive when applying foundation with your fingers. As such it should be a more natural streak free application. I usually prefer a Beauty Blender to apply foundation but found this gave a more fuller coverage in a fairly quick time. If you wish you can smooth over with a blending sponge to truly give a natural application.

The Barepro foundation I ordered was Cashmere shade 6. I did get shade matched in store and was matched to Aspen which is actually shade 4 however this wasn't available. SJ who is the Bareminerals make up artist on QVC helpfully suggested Cashmere on Twitter when I asked her, they also provided a comparison chart to match their other shades to these. I do wish brands would keep it straight forward and have one name for all matching shades!

Barepro Liquid Foundation

To provide some comparisons in Mac I'm NC15, Bareminerals original Fairly Light and Fair-Light in Tarte. High street wise I'm usually the palest shade available.

I applied my usual moisturiser then the Prime Time and then I applied 1 pump to the luxe brush, it's worth noting the pump does lock so is good for travel. I applied a few dots round my face then blended, it does set quickly so I wouldn't recommend dotting over the whole face as it'll set before you get to the end and blending is then tricky. 2 pumps provided pretty good medium coverage. I did try a 3rd pump mainly to see if it was build able which it is.

I used the Mineral Veil to set then went on my usual brisk 20mins walk to work. I do tend to arrive a little glowing shall we say, no shame in being a little sweaty. The Barepro held up really well. I tend not to touch up during the day despite having combination to oily skin, mainly because I tend not to have time. At lunch I looked in the mirror and it still seemed as it was when I first applied.

I ended up removing around 11 hours after application and before I did I closely inspected my skin and apart from a little break up around my nose which is perfectly normal for me it still looked pretty good. It obviously wasn't flawless but after 11hours of work I wouldn't be either.

I shall continue to use over the next weeks to see if I do see any of the skin improving results. I shall keep you posted.
