Cheryl x L'Oreal Lip Kits

Lip Kits are made by pretty much every major brand now and L'Oreal have teamed up with Cheryl Tweedy to create 3 new limited edition lip kits, Paint it Peach, Paint it Burgundy and Paint it Griege.

Cheryl has also teamed up with The Prince's Trust as well to use £1.00 donated by L'Oreal per lip kit sold to hopefully raise enough to open a Prince's Trust centre in Newcastle. So you can feel good whilst looking good.

Cheryl is a Prince's Trust ambassador and has the following to say

"I am thrilled that L’OrĂ©al Paris are donating £1 from each lip kit to my charity. My Trust is working in partnership with The Prince’s Trust to fund a brand new, state of the art Prince’s Trust Centre in the heart of Newcastle, opening a door for young people in the area to get the support and training that they need to help them on the road to better opportunities"

Each kit contains an Infallible matte Lip Paint and a corresponding Infallible Lip Liner and retails for £9.99. They only launched yesterday and Boots have already sold out online of, at the time of typing,Paint it Peach and when I looked in store I couldn't find any shades.

Because Boots didn't have any in stock I popped into Superdrug and they literally had 2 of each shade available. Unfortunately there are no testers and so it's difficult to gauge the shades. There are some stunning pictures of Cheryl online and with the kits there were also eye products to enable you to get the looks from the promo shoot.

I picked up Paint it Peach and Paint it Burgundy as I cannot see myself wearing the Greige shade. The packaging is stunning but there was no mention of the charity aspect, I was only aware as I'd seen some press. On the back it shows the lip paint and liner.

I haven't used any of the lip paints from L'Oreal so I'm unable to say if they are the same formula but they are quite mouse like in texture. The lip liners are creamy and really easy to apply. I was impressed with the pigmentation and application.

I decided to test out the burgundy as I knew I'd be eating about 30 minutes after application and it's always a good test. They don't say anywhere about being long lasting and they don't dry down fully. It felt like I was wearing a regular lipstick. I applied the lip liner then 2 coats of the lip paint which has a typical doe foot applicator, as it wasn't opaque in 1 and the lip liner was very visible.

I had a jacket potato for lunch so not particularly messy and I wasn't super careful to avoid smudging the product, I just ate normally. Half way through I checked in the mirror and pretty much all that was left was the liner.

I wasn't super impressed but as I said they hadn't claimed to be long lasting but I would have still expected a little more staying power. It also didn't turn fully matte as I said and I waited 30 minutes so more than a reasonable time.

After I removed the burgundy I tried the peach and it lasted a bit longer. The scent is lovely and it doesn't feel dry on the lips but it is worth noting the staying power as I've heard the lip paints are usually pretty good. Maybe it's a different formula or maybe it's because dark and light mattes are notoriously hard to create, the greige shade being in between might be more long lasting.
After eating, all that's left is the liner

I don't dislike the shades and I'm aware of the complexity in creating matte shades so I don't hold it against L'Oreal and the lip liners are amazing and I'll definitely be picking up more. Because of the charity aspect I also feel they're worth a try. Being limited edition and the fact they're already selling out you may want to grab your favourite quickly!

They are available at Superdrug currently on 3 for 2 - unfortunately they aren't showing online yet so I'm unable to insert a link- if one becomes available I shall update.
And also at Boots here

Which shade(s) will you be picking up?
